We run a modern EV battery recycling plant in the city of Fredrikstad, Norway. It is designed to handle the current end-of-life batteries from the Norwegian EV fleet – 25,000 electrical vehicles or 12,000 tons of battery packs. The facility aims to minimize environmental impacts and is the first of its kind in Europe. In operation since May 2022.
Our sustainable recycling process extracts raw materials for new green batteries and green products. Our batteries are discharged, and this energy is used to power the plant and support the local grid. The battery packs are dismantled and modules are crushed and shredded in a fully automated closed-loop system. A dust collection system preserves even the smallest particles of raw materials. The output of our process is fractions of clean products and recycled raw materials.
We are here to ensure completely clean electrification – by innovating and creating a more circular battery value chain. The rise of electrical vehicles and shortness of fresh raw materials demand better solutions for our planet. We know that a battery can become a battery an infinite number of times.
